Basalt (Xuanwu) is a Chinese Legendary creature which is a combination of a tortoise and a snake. "Xuan" means black, "Wu" means solar(positive). Xuanwu is he God of the sea living in the North Sea. The Chinese believe that the North Sea is the passage to the underworld.it has the meaning of long living and can go in and out between the spiritual world and the real world.
